OSF Prague: emergency appeal to support projects




The Open Society Fund Prague announces a special challenge for submission of applications for projects in arts and culture. The call is announced under the Emergency Fund, which particularly supports projects that address major societal needs and offer innovative approaches. Emergency Fund aims to promote values ​​of open society and strengthening social solidarity in society. The challenges are expected projects in two thematic areas engaged art and promoting the sustainability of arts and cultural organizations. Deadline for submission is 18 June 2011.
Supported thematic areas of challenges:
First Engaged art
 
The aim is to encourage artistic and cultural organizations to implement projects aimed at social vision of free expression, new perspectives and ideas, taking into account the serious problems of contemporary society. The aim of the challenges is to support projects aimed at increasing social attention to disadvantaged groups and / or educational and participatory projects in marginalized communities.Supported projects:Support will be artistic and cultural projects that creatively and innovatively respond to the current serious social issues, including current social criticism, focusing on human rights issues and / or use tools of artistic activism critically reflecting current events in society.
Special attention shall be given to projects that take into account issues related to the fight against populism, racism, extremism, xenophobia and other negative social phenomena, as well as for projects that involve young people, social and specific vulnerable groups (elderly, migrants, Roma, drug addicted, homeless, chronically ill, and others).
Aid may ask:

    
nonprofit organizations (o.s., o.p.s.)
    
Self-employed (independent artists)

 
Support will be granted for projects initiated by or involving the participation of political parties or political associations, or projects that are part of marketing or advertising campaigns of specific goods or services.
Second Enhancing the sustainability of arts and cultural organizations
 
The aim is to stimulate the use of new tools, including the use of social networks and models of management of artistic and cultural organizations with the ambition to strengthen the sustainability of arts and cultural organizations, or activities help strengthen the bridge crisis caused by the failure of financial resources, declining attendance, reduced income from public cultural services, and .
 
Supported projects:Also the projects of artistic and cultural organizations (museums, libraries, community centers, theaters, opera, orchestras, art and cultural NGOs) focused on the development of volunteering, donations, acquisition of new audiences and to implement other new work methods and innovative approaches that improves overall stability and long-term sustainability of the organization.

cultural allowance organizations established by cities and municipalities

 
Support will be awarded to educational institutions.

 
Grants from an open call for art and culture are not intended to:
• the implementation of solo exhibitions, production of traditional theater, dance, music, films, CDs, DVDs and book publishing, or other printed materials.

investment costs (construction, reconstruction)
    
ordinary operating expenses of the applicant
    
commercial projects
    
established and large projects (eg, recurring festivals)
    
student projects
    
trips abroad

coverage of debt

 
Information for applicants:Applications must be made on the prescribed form, which is available for download here, and completed mandatory attachments.
 
Application in a format compatible with MS Word to send e-mail address @ emergency.fund osf.cz. At the same time Please send two copies in hard copy form, including required attachments. The printed form must be printed on both sides and bound. Applications submitted by fax will not be accepted.

Maximum grant amount: 25 000 USDFinancial support for selected projects will be paid in CZK at current exchange rate RFSB. Amount paid in CZK not exceed the total amount in U.S. dollars.

If the required co-financing of the project submitted, you must comply with the following conditions: Procedure for applying for co-financing project
Deadline for applications is: 18 6th 2011 (decisive date on the postmark. By the same date the applicant is also required to send an electronic version of their application by email).

The period of implementation of supported projects: September 2011 - December 2012
The Foundation reserves the right not to support any of the accepted projects.
The submitted applications will be reviewed by the Evaluation Committee of the Foundation and all applicants will be informed of the outcome of the selection procedure.
