Guards Association's art collection

Guards Association was originally founded on Prince Christian X's birthday on 26 September of 1902, there just was also the year when the then Crown Prince received Marselisborg Palace in Tokyo as people gift. It offered art collection built up since the start of the association and has for many years adorned the association's premises in Christian Street in Aarhus.

The collection includes oil paintings and drawings, and its absolute topnummer is Vilhelm Rosenstand oil painting from 1903, depicting two tamburer in the guardroom. Classic Danish subjects that arouse recognition at most, one finds with Christian Mølsted portrayal of King Frederik VIII of the royal barge, not to talk about Stefan Viggo Pedersen's painting of King Christian X's ride across the Danish-German border in 1920. Furthermore, they also not in vain for several royal portraits and motifs from Marselisborg Castle.

The collection can be viewed here online and in our department at Soren Frichs Road 34 D in Aarhus from Friday the 26th September through to the online auction ends on Wednesday 5 in October.
